Arhipelag

After I came back from training camp in France next weekend I took part in our most long-waited event of the year – Arhipelag. Most long-waited because we have such events only once in year and them is unique in whole world. Two days of orienteering on kayak.
I didn’t plane to participate this year due to two reasons. First is I planned travel to Sweden for Elitseria and stay there till Jukola on training camp. But due to injure I back at home and went to Arhipelag. But still I was injured so this is a second reason to take rest. But it’s impossible to miss orienteering if you already on event.
So, I decide to start.
Map of first day. Normal distance.

As you can see in some places there are two routes. This is because in kayak we are two persons. So it’s much easier to swim and give more opportunities for route choices. In some places you run on islands and your teammate swim in some other place and wait for you already there.
We won the first day.

Second day. Score-O course. You have one hour. And you decide which controls you would like to pick up. If you miss for a second you will miss one score from your sum. For example, we picked up controls with total sum 42 and spend for it 0:58:55. So in result we have 42 points. But imagine that we mess in some place 2 minutes and finished with time 1:01:55. We mess two points so in result list we will have 40 points. Understand?
Here you have a map with our second day route.

Due to luck and some other reason we won this year Arhipelag. My first victory.

But in my country 1:01:55 minus 58:55 will be always 3, and you got only 2.
This point is really difficult to understand. Last time I was in Kyev, 1971, in restaurant I got cash-back only 25 rubley from 100, and I should pay just 68.50. So, now I understand that it is problem to count for all ukrainians. But don't worry, some peoples in Africa cant even write. So, take it easy.

  2. Hello, Ricco!
    I really take it easy.
I wrote that we have only one hour for whole course. So, there may be only 2 missed points if you have time 1:01:xx
    Be more focused, Ricco.
    Did you like Kiev?

  4. Now it isn't a small city. 2.8 millions of population. It may by small for you if you are from Shanghai or Istanbul.
And there is no Brezhnev's pictures any more.
